Community Relations

The Mount Laurel Police Department understands the importance of building and maintaining community partnerships. The Community Relations Bureau focuses on strengthening our ties within the community to increase trust and improve the quality of life for anyone living, working or visiting Mount Laurel Township.

We look to engage the community through various outreach events, educational opportunities, and programs aimed at making Mount Laurel a safe place to live, work and play.

A program offered to break down the barriers between the police officers and citizens we serve. This +allows interaction with no agenda or purpose. We want to build a strong relationship with the community.

Mount Laurel Police Department’s Citizen Police Academy
The goal of the academy is to provide a learning environment for our residents so they can gain a better understanding of our agency. The police department would like to foster a transparent environment through hands-on learning and observation. Participants will learn from experienced officers and detectives as they familiarize themselves with patrol operations, community oriented policing, K-9 functions, motor vehicle laws and prosecution. They will also have the opportunity to experience a ride along and utilize a firearms simulator.
The citizen’s academy is designed to educate the participants on the structure, activities and daily functions of the police department. The Mount Laurel Police Department would like to create more informed citizens and open the lines of communication between civilians and officers.
